About Richard

Richard has had an active career which has given him a unique experience working with private, public, and institutional debt and equity. He has participated in capital raising of over $1 billion and rewarded his shareholders with hundreds of millions of dollars in sale proceeds.

In 1993 at the age of 24, Richard founded Guardian International, a full-service electronic security company in Miami. As President and CEO, he built the company from startup to an annualized revenue rate of more than $20 million, creating the 16th largest security company in the United States. Under his leadership, Guardian acquired and consolidated more than 35 security portfolios along the East Coast. He also successfully completed a reverse merger into a public company in 1996. After leaving the company as CEO in 2001, Richard continued as a director of Guardian until the company was sold in 2006 to a strategic competitor for more than $65 million, a premium of more than 200% of Guardian’s share price at the time of the sale.

From 2001 until 2010 Richard was President and CEO of Protection One (NASDAQ: PONE), the second largest security company in the United States with offices in 65 cities and over 1.5 million customers. During his tenure at Protection One, he led over 3,000 employees through one of the largest and most successful operating restructurings in the alarm industry. In addition, Richard refocused the company's marketing, product and sales strategy and participated in the process when affiliates of Quadrangle Group acquired majority ownership of the Company from Westar Energy in 2004. In 2005 Protection One completed a successful debt for equity exchange and reduced the company’s debt by almost $200 million.

In June 2010 Protection One was acquired for $828 million by affiliates of GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC. The transaction was a 118% premium to the share price of Protection One immediately prior to the company being put up for sale. Protection One’s largest investor, Quadrangle Capital Partners generated a 2.8-times gross multiple and 38% gross internal rate of return on their investment under Richard’s leadership.

Richard has served on the boards of Protection One, Guardian International, and Paradigm Direct. He has been a contributor to numerous security publications as well as a frequent featured speaker at industry events and investor conferences. In 2008, Mr. Ginsburg was the youngest inductee into Security Sales & Integrations’ Hall of Fame for distinguished industry service.

He has a Bachelor of Science in communications from the University of Miami.
